Acknowledged prostitute Tracey St. Clair, who became a woman through a series of sex change operations, was charged in Cleveland's Municipal Court on June 27 with cultivating marijuana. Police said Ms. St. Clair was growing the grass amid potatoes and tomatoes in the back yard of her home.
Miss St. Clair, 28, filed a class action in October 1975, seeking
to prohibit police, city and state officials from enforcing laws against prostitution. In her suit she described herself as a "female businessperson who is in the occupation of engaging in commercial sexual conduct between consenting adults in private." She said antiprostitution laws violate a person's constitutional, right to privacy, equal protection and due process of law. The suit is pending.....
Dignity-Cleveland is planning

G.E.A.R. Foundation member and co-editor of High Gear, John Nosek was quoted in a Plain Dealer bicentennial article on what Clevelanders propose as constitutional amendments. Said Nosek: "The biggest problem gays have is that we have no protection in employment. If anyone is either found to be gay or publically discloses that s/he is gay, s/he can be fired just because s/he is homosexual, without regard to the caliber of his/her work. We feel that until something is
clearly spelled out in a civil rights amendment, our people will continue to be oppressed and cannot be honest with themselves or society-at-large."
There were some unique ways of celebrating the Fourth of July this year. Tiffany Jones sang "Happy Birthday" to America as Marilyn Monroe. At the Cleveland Depo Baths celebrated by making Homemade Ice Cream for their patrons....
Hal's Corner's Bowling Team of John, Richard, and Ted has been laying the pins down at the Imperial Lanes in Canton at 8 o'clock every Thursday. According to Ted, "The straights just lose it! We're having a good time; it's fun."...
